1) My very own Rimowa?
I travel with the Topas IATA. I have mentioned numerous times before that this is my favourite case. I pined over it for a while and finally decided I needed to own it. I use this case for everything, from weekend get-aways to trips home to visit my parents.
2) Checked vs. Carry-on?
When I travel, it is usually for longer time periods. I have done Summer Abroad at the University de Siena, in Siena, Italy and at Oxford University in England. Siena was the first one I did and I under packed because I did it last minute. Oxford I was a lot more prepared and used my 29″ Black Salsa Deluxe. I almost always end up bringing a checked piece- and always underweight! My best kept secret is if you are going to over pack, take a second checked piece. The price for a second piece is usually comparable enough to an overweight piece. Take advantage of the add-a-bag system rather than lugging another piece with hands full.
3) Trips planned for this year?
This year I hope to make a few escapes. For my first trip of the year I plan to head down to Mexico to escape the insanely cold temperatures of Toronto. I plan to go for a week and use only my Topas Carry-on! For warmer travel destinations, a week should fit well into my carry on. Most items are light and small- think bikinis, flip-flops, tank tops and skirts! Beats packing boots and bulky sweaters!
4) Trip Preference: Resort get-away in Mexico or Touring Attractions?
When I travel my favourite part of being new places is to really experience the places the way the locals do- find a favourite local restaurant over hotel restaurants and bars. Of course I want the best of both worlds in terms of a winter escape. Since its so cold here I want to embrace the warm and spend a majority of my time laying on a beach! The rest of the time I will plan day trips to see local history and surround myself with the culture of Mexico! One of the things I most look forward to is visiting a Tequila Distillery!
5) My Best Advice for stress-free travel?
I fully embrace technology today to keep me on track. I use a flight tracker on my phone to keep watch for any changes or delays. The Flight Tracker app automatically sends you an alert if there is any change, so even if my flight was delayed in the middle of the night I won’t show up too early. It’s a must have, especially with unpredictable weather.
Writing and RIMOWA, my two favourite things 😉 Plus my gold feathered pen!
